S+H's Chamelon Starcloth a winner at Olivier Awards

Devon, UK-based drapes, starcloth, LED and visual effects specialists S+H Technical Support provided a 238m wide by 9m drop of their ShowLED RGB Chameleon Starcloth for the recent 2012 Olivier Awards.

The annual event was staged in the main auditorium of the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden and S+H got involved after being contacted by Lee Batty, Head of Production for event organisers, the Society of London Theatre.

Batty had previously used S+H's products and was looking for a striking backdrop and a full leg and border dressing solution for the stage. He also assisted in the visual design and look of the Oliviers, and said: "We wanted something different from last year that would bring a dynamic and special feel."

More than 1500 guests saw 14 awards presented covering a range of categories, and enjoyed a cast of 450 perform a programme of entertainment, all against the Chameleon starcloth.

Lighting for the event was designed by Ben Cracknell, and all channels of the fully DMX-able Chameleon starcloth were fed into the grandMA lighting control desk. Lighting equipment was supplied by White Light.

The Chameleon can be set to one colour, including white, if desired; static or twinkling; or have various different colour and chasing effects applied. It can be integrated into any show at the touch of a button and set to match any themed environment or space.

The Chameleon is made from the best quality LEDs and components from ShowLED, and S+H technical Support is its sole UK distributor.
